Where ferries depart
All Bay Islands ferries leave from the Muelle de Cabotaje, about 15 minutes east of downtown La Ceiba. Taxis from the center run L 150–250 (USD $6–10). Arrive at least 45 minutes before departure — the terminal has security screening and seat assignment.
To Roatán — Galaxy Wave
The Galaxy Wave is the primary catamaran to Coxen Hole, Roatán. Crossing takes about 75 minutes.
- Typical schedule: 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM from La Ceiba (subject to change — confirm at galaxywave.net or by phone).
- Return from Roatán: 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
- Fare: roughly USD $30 economy, $40 first class one-way.
- Buy tickets in advance during holidays and high season (Dec–April).
To Utila — Utila Dream / Utila Princess
Smaller boats run the 1-hour crossing to Utila.
- Utila Dream and Utila Princess II run on alternating schedules.
- Typical departures from La Ceiba: 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
- Return from Utila: 6:20 AM and 2:00 PM.
- Fare: roughly USD $30–35 one-way.
Tips
Seas can be rough November–February. Sit at the back center on the lower deck for the most stable ride. Take seasickness medication 30 minutes before boarding if you're prone to it. Luggage is loaded by crew — keep valuables with you.
